For more than a decade, Dr Katelaris has been brewing his therapeutic cannabis oil in the shadows, away from the watchful eyes of the main medical establishment who have shunned his zealot-like approach to medical marijuana.

Dr. Katelaris gave up his medical license to devote his life to helping create cannabis oil to treat various health conditions, within the story you will read how he's given parents hope by helping a child who has brain damage, cerebral abscesses, hydrocephalus, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. The child used to suffer daily seizures and would have to be hospitalised but since he began taking the oil, the seizures have stopped.

Read the full article via http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/dr-andrew-katelaris-claims-medical-marijuana-is-a-lifesaving-treatment/story-fneuzlbd-1227545447953ALDO Relaxing Guitartag:www.aldorelaxingguitar.com,2005:Post/35769162015-03-05T08:09:18-05:002023-12-10T13:52:45-05:00"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. PATRICIA THOMPSON MARCH 4, 2015 5:24 AM EST

Is there anyone who doesn't ultimately aspire to live a life filled with enthusiasm and passion? We all want to make the most of our talents and become the best versions of ourselves we can possibly be, right?

I'd say yes, as would most people, I think. But then why do so many of us settle for a life of mediocrity, in which we spend our time yearning for bigger and better things instead of actually going after them?

In my experience, there are a few pretty common obstacles that get in the way of living in a way that fully supports becoming the self-actualized person we were meant to be. Do you see yourself in any of them? If so, I've offered some potential remedies ...

1. Fear of failure

Our culture teaches us that failure should be avoided at all costs. So, instead of taking chances out of a place of excitement and passion, we choose to stay safe so as to avoid putting energy into something that doesn't guarantee a successful outcome.

Sure, this approach may help us to avoid the possibility of making a "mistake," but it often prevents us from experiencing self-trust, joy and fulfillment.

Remedy: The truth is, a life of purpose often involves taking calculated risks. So, to deal with a fear of failure, look at life as journey rife with opportunities to grow, which involves bouncing back from set backs. When something doesn't go as planned, reflect on the lessons learned, and use the experience as a chance to develop or try out a new strategy. As James Joyce said, "Mistakes are the portals of discovery."

2. Getting too comfortable

Jon Bon Jovi got it right when he said, "Don't get too comfortable with who you are at any given time. You may miss the opportunity to become who you want to be." Though unfortunately, for many of us, staying within our comfort zones is the path of least resistance. It is, as the expression suggests, comfortable. And the predictability that comes with staying firmly inside our comfort zones can cause us to become stagnant. Instead of experimenting with new experiences that could help us develop, we opt for familiarity and complacency.

Remedy: Recognize that we often grow the most as a result of challenges. Just as increasing the intensity of your workout enables you to become more fit, or attempting more difficult math problems increases your skill with numbers, pushing yourself in other areas allows you to raise the bar and develop your talents. Increase your willingness to be a bit uncomfortable, and watch your rate of growth skyrocket.

3. Pessimism

Too many people let general doubt and self-doubt hold themselves back from living the life of their dreams. Negative self-talk and pessimism can prevent us from taking any action toward our goals. Or, they can cause us to make half-hearted attempts, then come up with self-defeating or self-blaming excuses at the first sign of difficulty. In turn, these explanations provide justification for giving up on our dreams.

Remedy: Research shows that people who are optimistic experience more success in everything from physical health to workplace results. So, pay attention to how you speak to yourself and how it serves you. How do you feel as a result of being hard on yourself? What impact does it have on your life? Challenge your self-talk (or work with someone who can help you to challenge it) and watch your life improve. Trust allows you to take risks. And risks allow you to grow and change.

4. Concern with appearances

In an effort to keep those around us happy, many of us sacrifice our dreams and desires to meet others' expectations of us. In the process we betray ourselves, and can end up living a life that feels constraining and unsatisfying. As Lao Tzu said "Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner."

Remedy: In her book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying palliative nurse Bronnie Ware noted that the most common regret of those who were about to die was wishing they had the courage to live a life true to themselves, as opposed to the life that others expected of them. Recognize that if meeting other peoples' expectations is your main goal in life, you will find yourself in a losing proposition that will eventually lead to disappointment.

So allow yourself to be most concerned with your own view of yourself, and recognize the power that self-perception has on the choices you make — and the results that come out of those choices. This permission will ultimately provide you peace, freedom, and most importantly, a sense of ownership over your life.
ALDO Relaxing Guitartag:www.aldorelaxingguitar.com,2005:Post/35717042015-03-03T13:56:05-05:002022-04-13T15:00:38-04:00Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! 16 Of His Greatest Quotes To Inspire YouPosted BY MINDBODYGREEN

http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-17599/happy-birthday-dr-seuss-16-of-his-greatest-quotes-to-inspire-you.html?utm_campaign=recommendation&utm_medium=popular&utm_source=home

"Today you are You, that is truer than true. They teach us unconditional love, and truly, they embody love themselves. There is so much we could learn from them, and animals in general if we took the time to do so. Take a second right now to think about how we treat animals on this planet: it is heartbreaking. Animal abuse and mistreatment comprise a huge element of what is wrong in the world and it needs to be corrected.
There are many opportunities to change a being’s life, whether it be animal or human. We recently published an article showing before and after pictures of (mostly) dogs who had been adopted from a shelter and the difference that love and care made in their lives in just one day. You can read that here. If you are considering adding a new addition to your family in the form of a dog or cat, please consider adoption.

If you are a dog owner you will also know that they possess senses beyond our mortal ken, and most dog owners will tell you the same. These include telepathy, precognition, and something along the lines of what you see in the video below.

In fact, a study was actually published in the Journal of Scientific Exploration examining this subject. You can read that here.

This is nothing short of amazing, and while it might be shocking to some, for anybody who has ever been close to a dog it’s probably not surprising at all.
ALDO Relaxing Guitartag:www.aldorelaxingguitar.com,2005:Post/11205902013-07-12T22:05:00-04:002023-12-10T12:32:40-05:00HEART ATTACKS AND WATER !Author Unknown:
HEART ATTACKS AND WATER !
How many folks do you know who say they don't want to drink anything before going to bed because they'll have to get up during the night.
Heart Attack and Water - I never knew all of this ! Interesting.......
Something else I didn't know ... I asked my Doctor why people need to urinate so much at night time. Answer from my Cardiac Doctor - Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell). When you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) seeks level with the kidneys, it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier. This then ties in with the last statement!
I knew you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me. Correct time to drink water...
Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist!
Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack
I can also add to this... My Physician told me that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse.
Mayo Clinic Aspirin Dr. Virend Somers, is a Cardiologist from the Mayo Clinic, who is lead author of the report in the July 29, 2008 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Most heart attacks occur in the day, generally between 6 A.M. and noon. Having one during the night, when the heart should be most at rest, means that something unusual happened. Somers and his colleagues have been working for a decade to show that sleep apnea is to blame.
1. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day, take it at night.
The reason: Aspirin has a 24-hour "half-life"; therefore, if most heart attacks happen in the wee hours of the morning, the Aspirin would be strongest in your system.
2. FYI, Aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine chest, for years, (when it gets old, it smells like vinegar).
Please read on...
Something that we can do to help ourselves - nice to know. Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve instantly on the tongue.
They work much faster than the tablets.
Why keep Aspirin by your bedside? It's about Heart Attacks.
There are other symptoms of a heart attack, besides the pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating; however, these symptoms may also occur less frequently.
Note: There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack.
The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heart attack during their sleep did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.
If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.
Afterwards: - Call 911. - Phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by.- Say "heart attack!" - Say that you have taken 2 Aspirins.
Take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and ...DO NOT LIE DOWN!
A Cardiologist has stated that if each person after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably one life could be saved!
I have already shared this information. What about you?
Do forward this message. It may save lives!
1. Show up.

They say “A picture’s worth a thousand words.” When I was laying in a hospital bed hooked up to a ventilator and dozens of tubes, the most impactful moment was when I saw so many of my friends and family there, sitting just a few feet away. I couldn’t speak. My left vocal cord was paralyzed. My left lung had collapsed. I had inhaled too much water and shattered two vertebrae in a diving accident that became the pivotal instant that changed my life.

What did I have to rely on for those first terrifying hours after? When I felt alone, when the doctors told me I probably wouldn’t survive the night, I still felt at my core that somehow I’d survive. But how can you know for sure when everyone around you doesn’t?

Those are the moments when a well-intentioned note doesn’t matter, but being there does. What got me through was that I felt at ease and immediately comforted knowing my parents, brother, sister and so many friends were there supporting me. It was a testament to how meaningful the unspoken word can be.

The emails were touching but I don’t remember them. What I remember is everyone who was there in person.

2. Live with passion.

In the helicopter on the way to SUNY Stony Brook’s emergency room I finally closed my eyes. The door was open and I could feel the warm wind wafting onto my face but the thought of seeing the ground disappear below me was too much to bear. I was strapped into a gurney, my spine filling with an increasing amount of pressure that felt like it would explode.

For the first time, I didn’t have to reassure anyone I was alive or direct someone to call 911. Those ten minutes of introspection made me realize, “I might not make it through tonight.” None of it made sense. The weather was too serene for something so catastrophic to happen. It was a beautiful summer night with the moon and stars floating in a sky I wasn’t sure I’d see again.

I wanted to live, desperately. My first instinct, in a surge of energy, was to fight to fix what just happened. As it turned out, every part of being in the ICU was a challenge. Relearning how to breathe became the first and most important task of living. With my lungs unable to clear themselves by coughing, my blood oxygen levels were too low to sustain my body. I had to make it better or I’d need to be on a ventilator.

The nurses gave me a clear cup with a tube attached to it. The goal was to blow into the tube and make a little red ball float intermittently for thirty minutes. It was the most boring thing I was supposed to do but it was the most important. I needed to figure out a way to get strong enough to breathe. I found a way that was just as effective but all my own.

My sister and a childhood friend, Alex, stopped by my room the next day. They unpacked a disc player and placed it on the table facing my bed. Alex had an ABBA CD with him that he put in the player and said “sing.” For nine days, I didn’t care if I made a fool of myself: I sang so horribly and my lung capacity rose to a normal range. I could breathe on my own, without a machine, and it felt like a triumph.

3. Make a connection

There was a night nurse, Cynthia, whom I began having long conversations with. I’d wake up gasping for air from a recurring nightmare I couldn’t escape. It would play over and over in my head and I’d panic. Imagine dreaming that you suddenly can’t feel your legs or arms, only to wake up and realize that this horrible nightmare is actually reality.

But through conversations with Cynthia I began to feel human again because we’d talk about anything but my injury. That connection to another human being, the feeling of mutual respect, gave me the peace of mind I needed in order to go back to sleep and hold on to hope.

4. Commit to what’s important.

Like most twenty-four year olds, when I was confronted with a big change, there was a two-part reaction. The first was, “how do I deal with this?” and the second was, “what are my other options?” My injury forced me deal with the former on a level I never thought I could.

Many times I’d question whether my nerves would grow. The scientific community didn’t think they would. But it didn’t and doesn’t make sense to me why I can’t get better. I don’t have a disease, and new research is breaking the old boundaries.

I committed to my recovery. By focusing on that goal it became easier to email the leading spinal cord injury researchers and doctors around the world. I moved past the fear of asking a dumb question and learned to be direct and honest. It was easier than I expected and opened a world of possibilities where once there was none.

When I started Clark’s Botanicals, I had no idea what it would mean to run a skincare company. I was only sure of the formulation my father and I had made, and believed in our organic collaboration. The rest of it felt like a world of unknown. At first I thought I had to understand every part of it immediately. Eventually I realized that if I just stayed committed, I’d learn and grow as we expanded. And, like my nerves, why wouldn’t it grow if I were truly committed to it?

5. Realize there is no box.

Everyone has a different story. My good friend, Brooke Ellison, sustained a high-level cervical spinal cord injury when she was a young girl. It disconnected her body from her thoughts and made her dependent on a ventilator.

I often wonder if her brain ever just chills out. I suppose it might not have time to. She emails me while grading her students’ term papers, the ones who are hoping for a passing grade from their college professor. Those pupils probably don’t know she’s one of the first quadriplegics to graduate from Harvard and then become a leading Ph.D. in bioethics.

She’s not the kind of person to mention that because her focus is on something so much more beyond herself—engaging others and explaining the most complex topics in her brilliantly simplified way.

ALDO Relaxing Guitartag:www.aldorelaxingguitar.com,2005:Post/8607792013-06-02T07:50:02-04:002021-01-11T02:31:00-05:00How Francesco Clark made beauty from tragedyFull Story CNN 'The Next List'

This Saturday, June 1, marks the 11th anniversary of the accident that would forever change Clark’s life. He was just 24, enjoying the first night of a summer rental on Long Island, when he decided to take a late-night dip.

“The second I dove in,” he says, “I realized I dove into the shallow end of the pool.”

Francesco was paralyzed from the shoulders down. “You’ll never move your arms,” doctors told him. “Don’t even think about your legs. Don’t even bother.”

Clark never accepted his diagnosis. Not truly. But it wasn’t until his hero, actor-turned-disabled activist Christopher Reeve, passed away that he decided to take full responsibility for his recovery. And for the first time since his accident, Clark looked in a mirror. “I didn’t look like myself.”

One of the side effects of his spinal-cord injury was he could no longer sweat. “I had acne everywhere, but it was unreactive to any $500 cream, $3 cream, prescriptions, over-the-counter," he said. "Nothing worked.”

Eager to reclaim the friends and colleagues he’d neglected since his injury, he turned to his father, a doctor trained in both homeopathy and Western medicine.

After setting up a lab in the kitchen, Clark and his father investigated 78 botanical ingredients before landing on Jasmine Absolute, the unique blend of essential oils that solved Francesco’s skin problems. Today it’s used throughout the Clark’s Botanicals skincare line, sold in stores from New York to Hong Kong.

But far more important than the line’s success is the role it’s played in Clark’s recovery.

"It was the first time I saw the power of the beauty industry," he said. "A lot of people think it's just about the way you look. For me, it's about the way I felt."

Bolstered by the renewed sense of purpose his company has given him - and his aggressive pursuit of spinal-cord injury treatments - Clark has defied his doctors’ diagnosis. He now has partial use of his arms, wrists and hands. And as his company continues to grow, so do his dreams.

“You know, I’m very impatient and I want to do more," he said. "I want to be more independent, using my hands. And I plan to walk again in the next three to five years.”

Here are some of my favorite tips for losing weight without out ever going on a diet.

1. Drink water.

Sounds simple, but let’s be honest: how much water are you currently drinking? If the answer is anything less than half your body weight in ounces, it's not enough. Plus, if you're active, it should be even more than that. So here’s what you need to do: drink lots of water and cut back on things like soda (even diet!), alcohol, and sweetened beverages. You won’t notice a difference, but your body will thank you.

2. Load up on vegetables.

You may not be the biggest fan of vegetables, but I promise you can learn to like them. Vegetables fill us up, and they're loaded with fiber, energy, and vitamins. Plus, they're low in calories, meaning you can eat a ton of them without gaining weight. Add vegetables to every meal and you’ll be sure to see a difference.

3. Don’t fear the fats.

Fats do not make us fat. In fact, they do quite the opposite. They help us absorb vitamins, give us glowing hair, skin, and nails, and even keep us more satiated, meaning you'll stay fuller longer and be much more satisfied with your meals when you add a little fat. Consider adding things like olive oil, avocado, coconut oil, sunflower seeds, or flax seeds to your next meal. You’ll be surprised at how full you'll feel!

4. Move in a way that you love.

We all know that exercise can contribute to weight loss, but what if you hate it? The key here is to actually move in a way that you enjoy. This way, you'll be more likely to stick to it in the long term. Chances are, you’re not going to want to get up at 5am for a run if you hate running, but if your alarm goes off at 5am for your favorite dance class, I bet you’ll be way more likely to make it there.

5. Don’t label foods "off limits."

We want what we can’t have, so once you label something off limits or not healthy, it's going to become more appealing. Whenever I used to say I was going to cut bread from my diet, it would be all I could think about for a week until I finally caved and ended up eating an entire loaf because I couldn’t take the torture. Sound familiar?

Now that I allow myself bread if I want it, I don’t crave it nearly as much and those intense cravings I once felt have totally disappeared.

So there you have it, 5 simple things you can change about your eating habits today without ever going on a diet. Still struggling with this concept? I want to help you ditch the diets for good so I invite you to sign up here to get my free guide to ditching the diets and ditching the misery.

On June 28, 2012, the Foundation announced its plans to build and operate the first privately funded, launched, and operated interplanetary mission – an infrared space telescope to be placed in orbit around the Sun to discover, map, and track asteroids whose orbits approach Earth and threaten humanity.

“We’ve been given a gift, and the gift is that we have the ability now to go out there and actually do something which positively affects the future of humanity on Earth.” Dr. Ed Lu, B612 Foundation Chairman & CEO, STS-84, STS-106, Soyuz TMA-2, ISS Expedition 7

The Sentinel Mission will provide a unique opportunity for the public to take ownership in a historic space mission that will protect Earth, while providing the necessary roadmap for future exploration.

Sentinel is a space-based infrared (IR) survey mission to discover and catalog 90 percent of the asteroids larger than 140 meters in Earth’s region of the solar system. The mission should also discover a significant number of smaller asteroids down to a diameter of 30 meters. Sentinel will be launched into a Venus-like orbit around the sun, which significantly improves the efficiency of asteroid discovery during its 6.5 year mission.

The spacecraft and instrument use high-heritage flight proven deep space systems, originally developed by NASA, to minimize technical and programmatic risks. These heritage missions include large space-based telescopes (Spitzer, Kepler), a large format camera made up of many individual detectors (Kepler), and a cryogenically cooled instrument (Spitzer). By detective and tracking nearly all of the Near Earth Objects greater than 50 meters in diameter, Sentinel will create a map of the solar system in Earth’s neighborhood enabling future robotic and manned exploration. The Sentinel data will also identify objects that are potentially hazardous to humans to provide an early warning to protect the Earth from impact.
ALDO Relaxing Guitar
